Youth Wage Subsidy Now!

South Africa has a youth unemployment crisis. Of the 3.2 million unemployed people in the country, 70% of them are younger than 35.

President Zuma announced plans for a Youth Wage Subsidy in February 2010, and National Treasury has already budgeted R5 billion for the programme.

The Youth Wage Subsidy would benefit 423 000 young people over three years, and the only thing holding up implementation is COSATU.
