  About the DA   »   Management

The Democratic Alliance is managed at three levels : national, provincial & local.

At the national level, power is vested in the Federal Council consisting of approximately 120 members.

The functions at National level are organised into three divisions :

1. The Office of the Leader
Responsible for the implementation of the strategy, political programme and administration of the Leader of the Democratic Alliance. This office falls under the management of the Chief of Staff - Office of the Leader.

2. The Parliamentary Operation
Falls under the management of the Whippery and manages the Democratic Alliance's use of the Parliamentary platform to promote and project the DA's policy and programme.

3. Political Management and the National Headoffice
Responsible for the implementation of strategy, campaigns, party organisation, administration, fundraising and finances. This office falls under the management of the Chairperson of the Federal Council and the National Executive Director.

In addition, Provincial Management Committees (PMCs) have been established in each of the nine provinces. These PMCs are tasked with managing and promoting the Democratic Alliance at the provincial level. Similarly, PMCs have established Local Management Committees (LMCs) within the municipalities of the respective provinces.Because the party is federal in nature, some Provinces are structured in asymmetrical ways.
