The Democratic Alliance (DA) Youth congratulates DA Youth Free State Chair, Sibusiso Tshabalala, on winning the prestigious global Google Zeitgeist Young Minds competition. He received the award for a leadership project developed during his time on the DA’s Young Leaders Programme in 2011.

Google Young Minds is an international competition to find 10 young pioneers between the ages of 18 and 24 who are making a positive and innovative difference in the world.

Sibusiso’s project focused on promoting literacy and encouraging critical thinking skills in previously disadvantaged areas in the Free State through the establishment of reading clubs, the renovation of libraries and training opportunities for young public speakers.

The Google Young Minds are invited to the Google Zeitgeist Conference, an exclusive three-day event taking place in London in May this year, where over 400 influential business leaders and visionaries from around the world come together to share their perspectives on global issues. Some of the speakers include: Professor Stephen Hawking, Richard Branson, Eric Schmidt (Google Chairman), Angela Ahrendts (Burberry CEO), Will.I.Am and Google CEO, Larry Page.
