Helen and I are ready to debate Zuma and Malema

Khume Ramulifho, DA Youth National Spokesperson
11 March 2009

In light of Julius Malema’s comments this morning that he is only prepared to debate Helen Zille, and not me as his youth counterpart, I would like to repeat that this is simply because he has no compelling vision of a better future for the youth of South Africa.

Malema is a political thug who relies purely on his slavish support of Jacob Zuma for publicity. He has avoided debating me on three occasions in the past two weeks alone, suggesting that he has nothing meaningful to say about the substantive issues that face the youth of this country.

Malema’s suggestion that he has the political standing to merit a debate with the leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Helen Zille, is further evidence of his deluded sense of self-importance.

As the President of the ANC, it is Jacob Zuma who should debate Helen Zille. However, whilst she has consistently challenged him to do so, he is as evasive as his young counterpart. Zuma, just like Malema, is running scared.

Therefore let me repeat my challenge, both Helen and I are prepared to debate Zuma and Malema respectively – just name the time and place.
