DA considers candidates appointed to National Planning Commission

The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes today’s announcement by President Zuma of the Commissioners appointed to the National Planning Commission - despite it being a month overdue.

We are busy studying the list and will make our opinion public once the list of candidates has been given due consideration.

If the National Planning Commission is to fulfil its mandate of developing a viable long term vision and strategic plan for South Africa, its Commissioners must possess both impartiality and integrity. It is essential that the candidates selected by the President reflect a commitment to good governance, rather than furthering the ANC’s political agenda.
