If the DA is elected, Nelson Mandela Bay will become a living testimony to its namesake’s values of Freedom, Fairness and Opportunity for All.
After five years of the DA in government, the City will be alive with opportunity, people will have access to excellent services and the City will respond to the needs of its residents. Good governance attracts opportunities and access to these opportunities will help lift more people out of poverty. With infrastructure to support growth, employees will have an excellent quality of life.
The DA will deliver better services to more residents because a well-run city does not have potholes, broken streetlights and crumbling infrastructure.
It is important to the DA that Nelson Mandela Bay should be a responsive city where the most vulnerable members can trust that their interests are being looked after. The safety of each community is indispensable. Up until now, the City has had no metro police force and an understaffed law enforcement department. After the DA is elected into the municipality we will redress this so that there is a better staffed law enforcement department to make the City safer than ever before.
It is important that the DA addresses the injustices of previous governments. Many communities in Nelson Mandela Bay suffered under the spatial planning left behind by apartheid but an inclusive City will embrace and welcome diversity, and redress this legacy. Moreover, the DA will ensure that it addresses corruption and investigates the misuse of money by the previous government.
Our vision for Nelson Mandela Bay is for it to become a fair place where people feel safer and our communities are more inclusive and integrated than ever before. It will take the dreams and aspirations of its residents to heart and deliver. By being forward thinking, the City will secure a bright future for its residents and future generations.
