Under a DA government, Tshwane will become a destination of opportunity, not only for thousands of South Africans moving here in hope of a better life, but also for businesses and professionals whose investment in the City will create thousands of jobs.
We will reverse the design of apartheid in Tshwane: creating safe, clean and diverse public spaces; closing the distance between home and work for residents through effective and affordable public transport; and encouraging a citizenship that transcends racial and tribal divides.
Tshwane cares for its most vulnerable citizens. We will formalise hundreds of informal settlements, but also accept that formalisation isn’t the solution for every human settlement. We will therefore work to make life conditions in informal settlements better, giving people access to basic services and community amenities while they wait for formal housing.
Where there is water, there is hope, and the DA has a plan to address the water crisis. We will instate competent engineers and install a smart metering system that allows residents to control their consumption and limits water losses. We plan to promote the use of green technology like solar lighting and rainwater harvesting.
Economic development is suffering because areas aren’t safe. As such, the DA will put skilled policemen in place, led by a competent people. We will instate a specialised unit that will deal with drugs, gangs and corruption to create a safer and fairer City.
We will improve and roll out more basic services than ever before. By slamming down on corruption and maladministration, the City will improve its delivery rate dramatically. More people have access to basic services and roads will be improved.
When the DA leads Tshwane, people will be able to engage with a caring City where they feel welcome and trust that their interests are looked after.
The DA cares for everyone in Tshwane.
