The above position now exists within the Democratic Alliance. The DA is looking to recruit a self-motivated and goal driven individual for this position, reporting to the Head of Office with an indirect reporting line to the Chief Whip. The successful incumbent should meet the following requirements:
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Self-motivated and dynamic;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
  • Computer Literacy essential;
  • Prepared to work long and irregular hours;
  • Ability to accept responsibility and be accountable for work standards;
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
THE SUCCESFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
  • Providing effective and efficient administrative services to the Democratic Alliance Legislature office and to the designated Democratic Alliance Members of the Provincial Legislature;
  • Assisting with basic research functions for designated Democratic Alliance Members of Legislature when required;
  • Providing effective and efficient secretarial service to the Democratic Alliance Legislature office and the designated Democratic Alliance Members of the Provincial Legislature;

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Research and the Chief Whip, with an indirect reporting line to the relevant MPL.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Identifying relevant issues on which the DA needs to communicate a position;
  • Determining the DA’s position, based on its principles and relevant research;
  • Communicating the DA’s position to the public;
  • Together with the Chief Whip, Head of Research and portfolio spokespeople driving issues successfully, analysing the political, social and economic environment accurately and producing high-quality public policy alternatives for the party.

Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the DA;
  • A detailed understanding of the DA’s vision of an Open, Opportunity Society for All;
  • The preferred candidate must be completely outcomes orientated and not simply task orientated;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Excellent organizational abilities;
  • Proficiency in more than one language;
  • An ability to work effectively and energetically around a demanding work schedule;
  • Willing to work long and irregular hours.
