Langeberg Local Municipality’s motto is, “putting people first.” In its second term of DA governance, the Municipality will strive to create jobs, deliver better services and cut corruption – its consistently clean audits are evidence of this.
The Municipality featured in the top ten of Good Governance Africa’s 2016 Government Performance Index for best-run South African local governments.

DA-led Langeberg is awarded good audit results every year for being honest about how every cent of ratepayers’ money is spent.
Mayor Jansen awarded top achieving matrics with funding to go towards their tertiary educations.

Schalk van Eeden
Executive Mayor
Schalk was born and bred in the Langeberg area on a farm called Mardouw. He matriculated from Paarl Gimnasium, completed one year of conscription, and then completed a two-year agriculture diploma at Elsenburg Landbou College. At the end of 1979 he returned home to farm with his father. The farm was later sold and Schalk
