Athol Trollip

Born and bred in Bedford in the Eastern Cape, Athol was deputy head boy and captained the rugby, swimming, water polo and surf lifesaving 1st teams at high school. For 20 years, he farmed his family farm in Bedford, was Chairman of the Farmers Association, Chairman of the Bedford Club, committee member of various sporting associations, executive member of the Eastern Province Agricultural Union and the "Smaldeel" Soil Conservation Committee.

Roy Jankielsohn

Roy grew up on a farm between Steynsrus and Kroonstad in the Free State province, where he was the youngest of six children. He spent seven years in boarding school at Queens College in Queenstown and completed the final 2 years of his schooling at Kroonstad High School.

John Steenhuisen

John Steenhuisen was born in Durban, KwaZulu Natal, he attended school in Durban North, first at Chelsea drive and then at Northwood school where he matriculated in 1993.

Desiree van der Walt

Desiree was born in Polokwane (then Pietersburg), Limpopo. Her school career started in Potchefstroom, but she matriculated at Klerksdorp Hoerskool. After school, Desiree entered the corporate world by joining a banking institution for nine years.

Anthony Benadie

Anthony was born in Witbank, Mpumalanga in 1979. He was raised in a coal mining environment and relocated permanently to Middelburg in 1993. He is an academic and career politician. He managed the family business for four years, during which time he was involved in the DA through academic involvement and party politics. He lectured on Public Administration for two years, before entering a career of full-time politics.

Chris Hattingh

Chris grew up in Potchefstroom and describes his childhood as a carefree time when, from a young age, he attended the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture, where he recalls being transported to school in a coach drawn by massive Clydesdale horses.

Theuns Botha

Theuns grew up in a house with a strong political flavour. His father was the first Afrikaans speaking mayor of Kimberley; therefore he has a long-standing familiarity with politics that allows him the ability to read changes in the party political landscape.
