This is because not a single one of them was issued with a tax clearance certificate (TCC).

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=8018Mon, 08 Mar 2010 16:21:02 +0200The real way to expand opportunities in higher education is to make the NSFAS work
If SASCO is genuinely interested to supporting students with a flair for higher education they should ask why it is that universities returned R40-million in student financial aid to the National Students Financial Aid (NSFAS) in 2008/09. In fact, there is more money available in financial aid and bursaries than students we know of who have the academic requirements for university admission.

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=8017Mon, 08 Mar 2010 16:19:52 +0200Why must hospital CEOs be vetted by the NIA? Thulisile Madonsela, to request that her office investigates President Jacob Zuma’s apparent breach of section 5 of the Executive Ethics Code (Government Gazette 21399/41), insofar as he has failed to disclose his financial interests, assets and liabilities within 60 days of taking office. The Public Protector is obliged to carry out an investigation upon receipt of a complaint from a member of parliament over any alleged breach of the Ethics Code – as is stipulated by section 3(1) of the Executive Members’ Ethics Act of 1998. Both stories concern the refusal of each person to properly and transparently report to the relevant authorities on their financial interests. With regards to President Zuma it is reported he has failed to declare his financial interests, assets and liabilities, as required by the law; with regards to Julius Malema, it is reported he has not paid any personal income tax for at least the last two years and none of his companies have complied with South Africa’s tax law either.

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=8007Sun, 07 Mar 2010 11:54:43 +0200Metrorail’s financial woes now compromise the security of its passengers
Leaked documents indicate that Metrorail will on 12 March 2010 cancel contracts with security companies that have been providing safety and security services to commuters at train stations.

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=8006Sun, 07 Mar 2010 09:51:43 +0200DA to meet with Nersa over Eskom tariff
The Democratic Alliance (DA) will be meeting with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) over what appear to be significant problems in the adjudication of Eskom’s tariff application. After reviewing the nature of the proposals put forward by the National Energy Regulator in detail, and consulting with industry insiders, we believe that three major flaws existed with the Nersa decision.

http://www.da.org.za/newsroom.htm?action=view-news-item&id=8005Sun, 07 Mar 2010 07:54:30 +0200
