Get to know Geordin Hill-Lewis MP

Geordin Hill-Lewis is a member of Parliament in the Republic of South Africa. He is the DA’s shadow minister for Finance. Prior to that he served as shadow minister for Trade and Industry.

He was elected to Parliament in 2011 at the age of 24, at the time the youngest MP to be elected since the advent of democracy in South Africa in 1994.

He served for five years as chief of staff to the then Leader of the Democratic Alliance and Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille.

Geordin began his involvement in politics in the arena of student politics at the University of Cape Town, launching the DA’s first student branch and eventually winning student elections on that campus.

He has a master’s degree in Finance from the University of London.

Geordin is married to Carla, and in August 2015 they welcomed their first child, a daughter.
