The City of Cape Town’s Libraries and Recreation and Parks Department are bringing the heat this winter holiday with a wide range of activities across the city.

‘There’s no time for boredom this winter holiday, as these two departments are offering hundreds of programmes to keep young minds busy and active. It will keep our youngest residents positively engaged, entertained and safe,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.

Games, sport, a potjie kos competition and awareness talks are part of the offerings at the City’s recreational hubs.

Apart from story and movie sessions at libraries, there are also creative activities which give youngsters the opportunity to make their own graphic novels, story books and have fun with crafts.

‘School holiday programmes are designed with children in mind and are aimed at being engaging and exciting. Our holiday programmes are perfect for not only keeping them active, but they’ll have the chance to socialise, be challenged in new ways and might even pick up new skills,’ said Councillor van Der Ross.

Check which activities take place at your library as some may require prior booking due to limited space.
