With just hours left until overseas voting in the 2024 elections begins this weekend, the Democratic Alliance (DA) Abroad has fielded more than 100 party agents across the globe to ensure that voting is free and fair.

More than 78 000 South Africans registered overseas have the opportunity to vote over the next three days and it is vital that consistent and proper duty is followed at all voting stations.

London is the biggest voting station abroad, with more than 24 000 registered voters and the DA Abroad will have party agents present across both voting days at this particular station on 18 and 19 May.

DA Abroad party agents will also cover some of the globes’ other significant stations, including in The Netherlands, Australia, Mauritius, United States, Spain, France and Abu Dhabi, which will all vote with most of the world on Saturday 18 May.

For a handful of countries in the Middle East, voting will take place on 17 May – this includes Egypt, Syria, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Palestine and Algeria.

Trained party agents are familiar with voting procedures and will be present to observe that all correct protocols are followed during this vital time for South Africa’s democracy.

A reminder to all South Africans heading to the polls overseas this weekend that only an ID book, smart ID card or valid temporary ID is needed to vote. It is not necessary to bring a passport.

This election will be the most important one to take place since 1994 and each and every citizen has a chance to rescue South Africa with the power of their vote.
