The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the launch of a first-of-its-kind project preparation bid window by DA Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Dean Macpherson, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development in South Africa. This initiative, carried out through Infrastructure South Africa (ISA), is a critical step towards driving economic growth and creating jobs—key objectives of the DA in government.

By supporting large-scale infrastructure projects, valued at over R1 billion, and ensuring they are “shovel-ready” for implementation, this initiative addresses one of the primary barriers to investment in South Africa: insufficient project preparation. Minister Macpherson’s goal to see infrastructure investment contribute to 1.5% economic growth aligns with the DA’s broader vision of fostering an economy that grows and generates employment opportunities.

Prioritising key sectors such as energy, water, sanitation, and transport, this bid window will unlock private sector investment and stimulate much-needed infrastructure development. The DA is committed to ensuring that practical solutions like these are implemented to create the conditions for sustainable growth and job creation across the country.
