The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal is humbled by the support it received to secure victory in the ward 64 by-election in eThekwini.
This is a significant step forward for the party in eThekwini. The DA continues to build support and confidence from communities that are tired of ANC empty promises, a dysfunctional city, and no service delivery.
The DA is pleased that voters have, again, come out in their numbers to collectively place their trust in the DA.
This is not only a victory for our party but also a rejection of the MK party – a party that seeks to divide communities. Today this was rejected by voters in Ward 64.
The voters of ward 64 have spoken; they have said no to the small parties who only want to divide our communities, voters clearly understand that only the DA has a track record, vision, and leadership to rebuild this city.
Our newly elected ward councillor, Cllr Norman Gilbert, has worked tirelessly alongside the community and will continue to champion the issues that matter most to residents of ward 64.
With the DA eThekwini mayoral candidate announcement next week, momentum is firmly behind the DA as we kickstart our campaign to rescue and rebuild eThekwini.
The message from Ward 64 is loud and clear: resident’s want change, and the DA is ready to deliver that change.
Ward by ward, street by street, we will continue gaining the trust of residents as we strive to rescue and rebuild eThekwini. We want to thank all of the voters who supported us. Together, we can rescue eThekwini, bring dignity back to our communities, and rebuild a city all.
