Today’s game-changer announcement by South Africa’s Minister of Home Affairs, the DA’s Dr. Leon Schreiber, that passports for South Africans living abroad will now be delivered by courier is warmly welcomed by the DA Abroad.
South African citizens have been forced to make multiple journeys to embassies and Home Affairs outposts, to file applications and then again to collect documents in the past, but under a DA Minister this is about to change.
We welcome this progressive step, for the South African community abroad.
From 01 November 2025, the ease of receiving passports by courier in 18 major cities around the world will make the process much more efficient for South African citizens.
The cities where Minister Schreiber has launched this passport delivery service are:
- London
- Sydney
- Aukland
- Dubai
- Abu Dhabi New York Washington DC
- Ottawa Beijing
- Berlin
- The Hague
- Manchester
- Edinburgh Melbourne
- Perth Wellington
- Shanghai, and
- Dusseldorf
In government the DA continues to deliver innovation and improvements, and the DA Abroad is glad to recognise this major step forward as a win for South Africans abroad.
