Where we govern

George

George Local Municipality’s vision is to keep George clean, safe, and green for all citizens. After successful trials, the Go George public transport system’s route is being expanded with additional infrastructures such as bus shelters and an undercover public transport hub. This well-run DA-led municipality consistently receives clean audits and works hard to bring better services to all residents – especially residents in poor communities.

George's Success Stories

We work hard to bring better services to all residents. 9 375 more homes have access to water, 12 576 more homes have electricity, and 12 397 more homes have flush toilets.

Our pro-poor budget will keep working to bring services like electricity to residents in poor communities, offering good financial support to those who qualify as indigents.

With our People Living on the Streets Project, we help former homeless residents to obtain an ID document, shelter and increase their chances of getting a job.

“The Go George buses were implemented in our town. They are safe, convenient and affordable.” – Mary Potts, Pacaltsdorp
