It has a zero tolerance approach to corruption – its last clean audit exemplified honest spending and good management. In the war on drugs, this DA-led municipality has set up a Drug Action Committee, offering opportunities and support to communities. R300 000 in bursaries
were handed out in 2017 to help students from poor communities to study and get good jobs.
Reduced water losses
by fixing water leaks and maintaining equipment properly, water losses have gone down from 20% to 8% in the last six years.
97.7% of homes in Bergrivier have access to flush toilets. The Municipality works hard every day to bring this, and other services like electricity; piped water and rubbish removal, to every home.
