Career Expo for the unemployed.

The vision of the Oudtshoorn municipality is to build a strong community that strives to improve the quality of life for all its residents in a sustainable manner. It’s precisely for this reason that the DA lead municipality decided to provide a “career Expo for the areas unemployed youth.

The Expo was attended by hundreds of young people from the community including scholars, matriculants, unemployed youth and parents. More than 23 organisations and government departments were on hand to offer advice and opportunities.

The Expo is a program that focusses matriculants and unemployed youth from the Greater Oudtshoorn area. Part of the program aims to create a platform for interaction between young people, educational institutions and government departments.

Various career opportunities within these organisations are profiled and career advise provided.

Executive Mayor Colan Sylvester, has said on many occasions that one of the municipalities goals is to assist the youth to rise above their circumstances and make a success of their lives. As such the municipality also provides bursaries and is raising funds to expand its educational assistance to the youth in the region.

The Executive Mayor welcomed the participation of all role players at the Career Expo and said it was an indication that the youth really wanted to follow their dreams.
