No more long walks for Struis Bay residents

The DA-led Cape Agulhas municipality came to the aid of residents in the northern parts of Struis Bay who had no choice to but to walk for many kilometres due a lack of public transport options.

After witnessing these residents commute to work on foot, Mayor Swart decided to try and find a lasting solution. The Mayor contacted Qubheka Bikes who generously agreed to donate 15 bicycles worth R40 000 to bring relief to the poverty-stricken community.

The project was advertised to the community and at a community meeting the bicycles were put on display for residents to see. Residents were then asked to apply for the bicycles and the first fifteen applicants were assisted.  The official handover was done in the presence of a representative of Qubheka Bikes in Struis Bay, and the new bicycles owners were permitted to take their bicycles home immediately.
