The Mayor of George’s Special Mayoral Project linked to the GO GEORGE bus service, aimed at creating fixed term contract jobs has reached another milestone. The first thirty information officers have been trained and will be deployed to provide information to the residents of areas that will be included as new routes in the GO GEORGE system.

The workers who have been given a 3 month contract received an allowance during training and will get a salary during the period of providing a service as information officers.  Recruitment for the information officer project was focussed on residents who live in the areas earmarked for new routes as well as people affected when certain taxi services where replaced by the municipal bus service.
