Residents to benefit from 6 700 jobs from City of Tshwane’s development projects

The City of Tshwane’s inaugural Trade and Investment Summit (TTIS) has
secured R10 billion towards projects that will change the city’s economic
landscape.

With the summit concluding today, I’m pleased to announce that the pipeline
projects will create 6 700 permanent jobs.

This brings to fruition Tshwane Vision 2030 Integrated Development Plan,
particularly the strategic pillar focusing on advancing economic growth and job
creation.

This response to my invitation to the investor community indicates that Tshwane
is indeed proving itself a preferred business destination.

Most importantly, R100 million towards Rankuwa Smart City Development brings
to fruition this administration’s commitment to change the economic landscape
for the benefit of residents.

The development will be comprised of residential, commercial and industrial
facilities.

Unemployment remains a concern, this challenge is exacerbated by stagnant
economic growth that exerts pressure on business activity.
Economic opportunity is often located far from where job seekers reside.

Through the Rankuwa Smart City, residents are provided an opportunity to
participate in improving their economic and social circumstances.

The residential, commercial and industrial facilities being developed in
Garankuwa ensures better economic and social circumstances for the township.

Increasing this City’s business profile is key to spurring job creation, I look
forward to welcoming more local and international investment partnerships such
as this.
