Drakenstein Municipality recently hosted councillors and senior officials from East-London based metropolitan municipality Buffalo City. The two municipalities shared experiences and best practices in the area of Economic Development. Councillor Johan Miller led the Drakenstein Municipality delegation which comprised of the Economic Growth and Tourism division, Building Control and Waste Management.
Buffalo City’s delegation was led by Head of Economic Development and Agencies Mr Mzwandile Vaaiboom and comprised of three councillors and four managers in the Trade, Industry and Sector Development Section at Buffalo City.
After presentations by the Drakenstein delegation on economic performance, waste minimisation and red tape reduction, the visitors from the Eastern Cape were taken on a site visit to see the Council’s small business hives and waste drop-off facilities in Mbekweni. The delegation also paid a visit to the Nederburg Vineyard.
