29 Apr 2022 in Where We Govern

I wish to congratulate Dr Imogen Mashazi on her re-appointment as City Manager of Ekurhuleni. The re-appoint of Dr Mashazi will aid in maintaining the stability of the administration and ensure that the development goals of the municipality are realigned with the Multi-Party Coalition Government’s ‘Back-to-Basics’ vision.

Dr Mashazi returns as the City Manager with over 25 years of experience in local government. She was appointed as the first female City Manager of the Metro in 2016. Under the leadership of Dr Mashazi, the City of Ekurhuleni has been awarded two consecutive clean audit opinions by the Auditor General of South Africa for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 financial years. Furthermore, the city recently received a credit rating upgrade by two notches from negative to stable by the GCR Ratings Agency.

On behalf of the Multi-Party Coalition, we wish Dr Mashazi all the best on her monumental task ahead. We trust that she will lead the institution with diligence as we steadily transition into a new era of good governance and accountability. The residents of Ekurhuleni deserve an administration that works for them and that is committed to delivering quality services to citizens.
