Over a thousand homeowners in Palm Ridge Extension 9 are now valid homeowners, after they received their title deeds from the city’s Department of Human Settlements on Wednesday, 20 July, 2022.

This was made a reality when the City handed out 1 110 title deeds to the residents of the area.

Jacob Makulwane (66) a resident of Palm Ridge and a recipient of the title deed, has been residing in the area for the past five years, he received his RDP house from government in 2017. He says it’s been unsettling to stay with family in a house he does not fully own.

“Receiving this title deed brings a sense of relief to me as the head of the house. I’m now certain that I have secured a home for my children,” said Makulwane.

The Palm Ridge housing project was established in 2016, and there has been a concrete visible progress compared to how life was before residents received proper houses, to now being official homeowners with a security of tenure in a form of a title deed.

The township currently consists of 2312 residential stands allocated to beneficiaries. More title deeds will still be allocated to the rightful homeowners.
