MMC donates water bottles to alleviate interruption at Tsakane Clinic

The MMC for Health and Social Development Cllr Charlotte Zitha this morning handed over 5-litre water bottles to the Calcot Dhlepu Clinic in Tsakane. The facility is one of those critical public facilities that have been affected by the current water scarcity in Ekurhuleni.

The water bottles, donated by a good Samaritan, will supplement the water which is delivered by the City through water tankers on a daily basis.

The intervention was necessitated by water supply interruptions across the city due to critically low reservoir levels caused by high water consumption and Rand Water’s stage 2 restrictions.

Excited by the contribution, the facility manager and Chief Nurse Mmatsie Sigudu said: “The donated water came as a much-needed relief to the clinic as we use water for essential purposes such as mixing medication for paedatcrics and for drinking purposes. We do hope that the MMC and other Good Samaritans can continue doing such good work in the community.”

In the meantime, the city has employed various measures to improve the reservoir levels and restore full supply to all areas and facilities.
