Anton Bredell was elected third deputy federal chairperson at the 2023 DA Federal Congress.
He is a member of the Executive Council for the Western Cape Provincial Government in the Local Government, Environmental Affairs and Development Planning Portfolio.
Anton was previously the executive mayor of Swartland Municipality from 2003 to 2009. As mayor, he was responsible for inclusive service delivery to the residents of twelve towns in the Swartland Municipality. Under his leadership, the Municipality won the cleanest municipality award in the Western Cape and in South Africa, as well as the award for the best-run municipality in the country.
He has also filled the roles deputy mayor of Swartland Municipality, mayor of the town of Darling, and as a member of the Darling Transitional Council.
Before embarking on a career in politics, Anton ran his family business in Darling.
