Ward 11 eThekwini

Getting to know Allan Peterson

Allan is your DA candidate. He is a proud resident of Newlands East for the past 11 years.

He is the Chairperson of the Newlands East Community Watch, Sector 2 Chairperson of the Newlands CPF, KZN PR Chair for Narcotics Anonymous, KZN Fellowship Development Chair for Narcotics Anonymous, Lay Minister and Youth Leader for the St Peters Anglican Church.

He is running feeding programmes in the ward for the less fortunate people and runs a support group for those who have lost a loved one.

He is trying to assist the unemployed through skills development.

 My priorities:

  • Illegal dumping and waste: I will educate our residents on how to correctly dispose of their waste. I will assist to lodge complaints and ensure that officials are held accountable for suitable resolutions. These issues must be included in the plans for an effective resolution.
  • Healthcare: Our residents rely on the Glen Earl Clinic for all their medical needs, the clinic has been inconsistent due to budget reasons. I will work towards these issues being dealt with together with the health committee.
  • Crime and substance abuse: I will continue to host crime awareness campaigns and support groups for those who want to make fundamental changes in their lives. I will continue with working with our neighbourhood watches and the CPF to assists the SAPS in law enforcement.
  • Service delivery: I will ensure that our residents understand the process when it comes to service delivery. This will allow me to be able to exert immediate and correct pressure on the relevant department to ensure enhanced service delivery and turnaround times.
