Zamani Saul must urgently distance himself from John Block

The DA calls on newly elected Northern Cape ANC provincial chairperson, Zamani Saul, to denounce his ties with convicted criminal John Block.

This comes after Saul apparently described John Block as “a brother and a friend who brought the ANC in the Northern Cape to where it is today”.

The reality is that John Block has brought the Northern Cape to its knees.

John Block and his cronies robbed the Northern Cape government of millions of rands and, through continued influence within government, they continue to loot the state for their own personal gain.

It is disappointing that Saul has chosen to publicly reinforce his ties to Block.

At a time when the country is in crisis, and the general public is rallying to get rid of a corrupt President, Jacob Zuma, who himself has overseen the plunder of millions from the state, I am sure the people of the Northern Cape had hoped that the winner of the ANC chairpersonship would at least attempt to lead with integrity and be willing to take a firm stance against the criminality that is destroying the public service.

But this has not been the case.

Of the two contenders for ANC provincial chairperson, Sylvia Lucas is a known Zuma supporter and Saul has realigned himself with Gupta-like thug, John Block

It just goes to show that there is no future for the people of the Northern Cape under an ANC government. The ANC will not stand up against criminality, and will in fact celebrate those who are criminally convicted.

Mr Zamani Saul must publicly denounce and distance himself, or be seen to be a chip off the old ‘Block’.

The only hope to return the Northern Cape and the country to the dream of 1994 is for the citizens of South Arica to stand together and choose a new government in 2019.

That hope lies in the Democratic Alliance, which is ready to govern for all the people and bring the change we need.
