The DA welcomes the appointment of Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams as Minister of Small Business Development, as the previous ghost Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni has been missing in action for months.

Last week the Parliamentary committee for Small Business Development did an oversight inspection in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Countless lives and livelihoods have been destroyed, as small business owners have been dealt a devastating blow by the widespread theft and senseless destruction of both formal and informal business across the two provinces.

Now more than ever, small business needs the help of government to rebuild from the ashes.

The DA is already working to unite, rebuild and protect these effected communities, as now is not the time for race baiting and divisive politics.

We invite Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams to join hands with the portfolio committee to assist in the rebuilding and assistance of small business and we assure her that if she can put the desperate needs of these SMME stakeholders before the needs of the ANC, the DA will support her efforts to rebuild and develop small business in South Africa.
