The DA welcomes today’s deployment of an additional 100 Metro Police Officers in the City of Cape Town, providing 24-hour policing presence in the Central Business District.

This comes days after the deployment of 100 new Law Enforcement Advancement Programme (LEAP) officers in crime hotspots around Cape Town.

While the South African Police Service is waning due to under-resourcing, DA-led governments are stepping in and actively ramping up their efforts to make our communities safer, and their hard work is showing promising results.

The latest crime statistics for the First Quarter 2022, has shown an 8,2% drop in murder in crime hotspots across the city.

We wish to thank all stakeholders involved for their dedication, especially the brave men and women who are patrolling our streets and making our province safer.
