DA welcomes the election of Dr Annelie Lotriet as DA Deputy Chief Whip

The DA wishes to congratulate Dr Annelie Lotriet on her election as the party’s new Deputy Chief Whip in the National Assembly. She stood unopposed.

Annelie is a stellar example of a Parliamentarian with passion and commitment to making our country a better place. She was the DA’s caucus chairperson for the past 3 years.

In 1999, Annelie joined the Democratic Party. She was elected as a ward councillor in December 1999 for the Democratic Alliance.

In 2009, she was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the DA and was re-elected in 2014 and 2019.

Annelie has an LLB degree and a doctorate in education.

She is currently sitting on the Section 194 Enquiry into the Public Protector, Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fitness to hold office.
