The Democratic Alliance (DA) is shocked and deeply saddened by the brutal murder of a prominent businesswoman and a family member at a hotel in Limpopo. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victims’ loved ones during this devastating time.
The DA strongly condemns this heinous act of violence, which has not only robbed the victims of their lives but has also left a community traumatised and in fear. No one should have to face such brutality, and it is our collective responsibility as a society to ensure that justice is served.
We call on the South African Police Service (SAPS) to investigate this case swiftly and decisively. We commend the efforts of the police in launching a manhunt for the suspects and urge them to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice. The perpetrators must be apprehended and brought to book without delay.
In response to this tragic incident, the DA demands that the SAPS strengthen their presence and resources in the Ohrigstad area. The safety and security of all South Africans should be a top priority, and we cannot afford to allow criminals to instil fear in our communities.
The DA further calls on the Minister of Police to ensure that the investigation into this double murder receives the necessary attention and resources it deserves. Additionally, we urge the Minister to implement a comprehensive plan to address the rising levels of violent crime across the country. It is vital that law enforcement agencies have the tools, training, and support they need to effectively combat crime and protect our citizens.
The DA will continue to lobby for an increase in rural safety so that farmers and farm workers enjoy protection so that they can shift their focus from their own safety to ensuring food security. The DA will continue to monitor this case closely and offer our support to the affected community. We stand united in the fight against crime and will not rest until the perpetrators of this horrific act are brought to justice.
