The DA extends its warmest wishes to the Springboks as they embark on their Rugby World Cup journey, facing Scotland in their opening match this Sunday.

Rugby holds a special place in the hearts of all South Africans, transcending boundaries and uniting our diverse nation. As such, we firmly believe that every citizen should have the opportunity to witness and celebrate our national team’s achievements.

We call upon the SABC and Multichoice to expedite their negotiations regarding the broadcasting rights for the World Cup matches. It is imperative that an agreement is reached promptly to ensure that as many South Africans as possible can tune in and rally behind our team.

Furthermore, we urge the Minister of Electricity, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, to provide clear and transparent information regarding the loadshedding schedule for this weekend. It would be a disheartening situation if our nation were unable to witness our team’s participation in this significant sporting event due to power disruptions.

In the spirit of unity and national pride, the DA encourages all South Africans to come together and support the Springboks as they represent our country on the world stage. Let us ensure that the entire nation can share in this moment of sporting excellence.
