The DA celebrates a resounding victory in yesterday’s four by-elections, securing wins in all four wards and experiencing growth in our vote from 2021. We congratulate the newly-elected ward councillors: Lida Erasmus, Alta de Kock, Fiona Pelman, and Allan Williams.

In Tshwane, Lida Erasmus and Alta de Kock triumphed in Ward 47 and Ward 64, respectively, showcasing the unwavering faith voters have in the DA. The impressive surge from 69.84% to 98.60% in Ward 47 and 53.31% to 66.88% in Ward 64 reaffirms our commitment to principled governance.

The win in Secunda’s Ward 21, with an increased majority from 79.23% to 92.23%, reflects voters uniting behind the DA. Fiona Pelman, now Ward 21 councillor, embodies our values and dedication to the community. We extend our gratitude to the campaign teams, staff, activists, and voters who supported the DA in this crucial by-election.

In the Western Cape, the DA proudly retained Ward 7 in Swartland, achieving a notable increase in support. Allan Williams, the newly elected councillor, brings a wealth of experience to further enhance governance and service delivery in the area. These victories bolster our momentum for the upcoming 2024 general election.

As the only party capable of rescuing South Africa, the DA urges all voters to “Register to Rescue South Africa” and solidify their choice for a better future. We thank everyone involved, from our dedicated teams to the voters who placed their trust in the DA.

Whether a ward, a municipality or a province – where the DA governs, life is undeniably better for the residents.
