The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) today attended the court proceedings in the murder case of the late DA Chief Whip, Councillor Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
The alleged mastermind, an Induna at the Nxamalala Tribal Authority, Zwelithini Buthelezi appeared together with the two co-accused. He did not apply for bail.
While we welcome the arrests, the DA is calling for speedy proceedings and judgment in the matter. The Democratic Alliance remains deeply concerned by the lack of collaboration from SAPS and the independent forensic team appointed by the DA. For more than a year now SAPS have ignored the evidence collected by the independent team. The presence of General Khumalo, head of crime intelligence, at the hearing today also gives the impression that there is more to the brutal killing of Cllr Ndlovu.
We will continue to offer support to the Ndlovu family until there is justice and those that are responsible are brought to book.
The case has been postponed to 09 July 2025.
