In an oral question session today in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) the Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, failed to demonstrate remorse for his failure to provide a complete declaration of interests in spite of the fine levied on him by Parliament’s Joint Committee on Ethics.
In spite of the acknowledgement of guilt demonstrated by his payment of the fine levied by the Joint Committee, the Deputy President deflected from the issue and showed no remorse.
In spite of the desperate attempts to protect the Deputy President from having to answer questions on the topic of his declaration of interests, disallowing a question which the Chairperson of the NCOP did not fully hear, Mashatile was however compelled to respond where no technicalities could be contrived.
The Deputy President continues to show no acknowledgement of the desperate plight suffered by most South Africans while the connected few continue to benefit.
