– Magistrates are the backbone of justice system, yet face poor working conditions.

– After a DA request, Minister of Justice & Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will appear before the NCOP on Wednesday to account.

– The DA firmly believes in the rule of law and will continue to fight for a robust justice system.

Minister of Justice & Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, will appear on Wednesday before the NCOP Select Committee on Security & Justice to address the worsening plights of magistrates across our country.

This follows a formal request by the DA for the Committee to urgently request the Minister to account for the Department’s failure to address poor salaries, unsafe working conditions, and low morale among magistrates, issues that have led to lunchtime pickets by judicial officers in Durban.

This meeting marks a significant victory for accountability and a direct outcome of DA parliamentary action.

The DA will use this opportunity to demand clear timelines, concrete plans, and accountability from the Minister and the Department to ensure that magistrates who are at the coalface of justice delivery are treated with the dignity and fairness they deserve.
