Thousands of matriculants across the country are about to sit for their final examinations. The Democratic Alliance wishes them well in the final chapter of their schooling journey. This moment is a culmination of many years of hard work.
They’ve had to overcome challenges, including schooling during Covid, to reach this milestone. Other challenges include overcrowded classrooms and teacher shortages; inconsistent access to the National School Nutrition Programme in some provinces; learning in dangerous educational environments with dangerous facilities, including pit toilets and asbestos infrastructure, and schools with bullying and violence – societal ills like gangsterism and violence spill into schools in some communities.
The rising cost of living would have also impacted many learners’ households and affected their ability to afford school uniforms, other necessities, and transport where learner transport isn’t available.
The hard work of the learners and teachers must be acknowledged, especially teachers who go the extra mile and provide extra support on weekends and during school holidays. We want to appreciate and acknowledge the resilience of all our learners, you continue to inspire us as you reach for your dreams.
We encourage learners to work hard in the last few weeks of their school careers.
The DA wishes all matriculants the best of luck. We absolutely believe in you and we want you to give it to your best!
We are cheering for you!
