The grand scale looting of R2bn from Tembisa Hospital is a national travesty. A whistleblower was murdered; there is a sprawling SIU probe; and circulating footage of patients being treated in the most inhumane conditions.

Despite this, Tembisa Hospital officials still blocked an unannounced DA oversight. It is shameful that even after pain and suffering communities have endured, officials dare to hide the Hospital from public scrutiny.

The DA will not accept this, and we will ensure comprehensive oversight of the facility. We will write to the MEC of Health in Gauteng to report this matter and demand intervention, so the public can see for themselves.

Failure by the MEC will result in a full DA Parliamentary probe, where we will use the powers of Parliament to ensure effective oversight.
