The Democratic Alliance (DA) wishes all learners and educators well as the new school year begins.

As classrooms reopen across the country, this year presents an important opportunity to build on recent progress in the education system. The recently released matric results have shown South Africans what is possible when learners are supported, teachers are empowered, and accountability is prioritised.

The DA extends a special word of encouragement to learners entering the schooling system for the first time, particularly those starting Grade R and Grade 1. Their educational journeys are just beginning, and we wish them every success as they take these important first steps in learning.

We also acknowledge the vital role played by parents and caregivers. The DA recognises the daily sacrifices made to ensure children are prepared for school, supported at home, and given the opportunity to learn every day. Your commitment is essential to learner success.

Teachers, too, deserve recognition and appreciation. Educators play a critical role in equipping learners with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to thrive. The DA is grateful for the hard work, dedication, and resilience shown by teachers year after year.

As the school year gets underway, every lesson learned in these formative years helps shape future outcomes. The Democratic Alliance wishes learners, parents, and educators all the best for a productive, successful, and rewarding school year ahead.
