Today, the DA announced further Mayoral Candidates standing for election in municipalities across the Western Cape, to keep their towns and cities working and delivering.
These are candidates who have been through the most rigorous selection process to lead the DA caucus in their respective municipalities, and to serve as Mayor if voters make the right choice.
Building on the momentum of our previous announcements of mayoral candidates across the province, this group of candidates stands ready to campaign with all their might, to win, and to get into office to build and deliver more.
The DA Mayoral Candidates announced today are:
- Bitou: Jessica Kamkam
- Bergrivier: Mario Wessels
- Cape Agulhas: Raymond Ross
- Drakenstein: Stephen Korabie
- Garden Route District: Marais Kruger
- George: Browen Johnson
- Matzikama: Richard van Huyssteen
- Overstrand: Clinton Lerm
- Swartland: Harold Cleophas
- Stellenbosch: Jeremy Fasser
- Witzenberg: Trevor Abrahams
These are all municipalities which are already DA-run governments, and the DA fields carefully selected candidates to ensure continuity of excellent governance.
The DA now charges our Mayoral Candidates to deliver to the highest standards, and to go further to improve lives and improve delivery where they lead.
The DA’s record of success in clean audits is but one proof point that in the Western Cape the DA is the only party able to consistently:
- Drive job creation
- Eliminate corruption
- Create safer communities
- Provide reliable basic services
With the local government elections approaching, the DA will fight tirelessly to ensure that every South African gets the services they deserve, under a DA-led government.
