The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the recognition by Minister of Agriculture, John Steenhuisen, of South Africa’s top sheep shearers following their outstanding performance at the Golden Shears Championships in New Zealand.
We echo the Minister’s praise of Bonile Rabela and Teboho Nyatsa, who have made the country proud through their remarkable achievements on the global stage. Rabela successfully defended his title as World’s Best Hand Shearer, while Nyatsa secured a silver medal.
These achievements underscore the strength of South Africa’s agricultural expertise and its ability to compete at the highest international level. Sheep shearing is a highly skilled craft that requires speed, precision, and a strong commitment to animal welfare.
The DA congratulates both shearers on their success and recognises their role in showcasing the quality and competitiveness of South African agriculture to the world.
