The party is over for the ANC

Dear Democrat,

The party is over for the ANC.

For the first time, the ANC no longer commands the support of the majority of voters. South Africa has entered a new political era.

The question now is: what comes next?

WATCH: A better future for South Africa

South Africans are not subjects of a party. They are citizens of a country they love.

The state does not belong to the ANC. It doesn’t belong to any party. It belongs to the citizens.

That’s why I believe the DA’s mission must be clear: to put the citizen back at the centre of our politics.

Not the ANC. Not the DA. The citizen.

Our first transition gave South Africans the right to be citizens. The next transition must give them the power to live as citizens: free to choose, free to build, and free to flourish.

That is the better South Africa the DA is preparing to lead.

WATCH MY FULL SPEECH

We entered the Government of National Unity to keep destructive populists out of power, and to show South Africans what the DA can do in government.

But being in government does not mean being silent.

The DA will speak clearly when the ANC refuses to consult, refuses to compromise, or puts party interests ahead of citizens.

We will tell South Africans what we are fighting for inside government, and what we are doing with the trust voters gave us.

A better South Africa will not be built by politicians who want power over people.

It will be built by citizens who use their power.

That starts with being correctly registered to vote where you live.

Because the next transition begins with citizens choosing a government that puts them first.

DONATE TO THE DA

Working for all,

Geordin Hill-Lewis
