Today, I concluded my current tour against municipal mismanagement, after laying criminal charges against Mohokare Municipal Manager, Mr MS Mohale.
Mr Mohale was appointed in 2023, and Mohokare Local Municipality has maintained disclaimed audit outcomes for three consecutive years, with several unresolved irregularities. Under Section 173(1) of the Municipal Finance Management Act, Mr Mohale must account.
In March, Mr Mohale was also issued with a ‘Notice of Intention to Issue a Certificate of Debt’ by the Auditor General. This relates to a bulk water pipeline project that was never completed. It is a last resort mechanism for accountability after wasteful public expenditure.
Mohokare residents deserve far better than appalling service delivery. Residents deserve an administration that works effectively to deliver quality services for all. Only the DA can achieve that.
