The DA welcomes the Electoral Court’s ruling that deadlines are deadlines. Today’s judgement of the Electoral Court stops the ANC from submitting candidates for the upcoming election after the deadline all other parties were held to.

It is good for the rule of law, the fairness of elections, and equality among parties that the rules were not bent for the ANC.

The ANC is facing mounting internal and external pressure about this major operational failure, and the court case it brought lacked merit and substance, and appears to be more of a PR exercise than a legal one.

The candidate submission process is now complete. All parties’ candidates are final and will be published by the IEC later today.

South Africans are called upon to make their mark in this election judging parties on their reliability and track record.

The DA has reliably submitted a candidate for every ward in South Africa, and we will be on the ballot paper in every ward.

If you want your town or city to work, vote DA.
