Overberg District Municipality is committed to serving the region. Its zero tolerance approach towards corruption is evidenced by its clean audit in the 2015/16 financial year.

In its next term, the District will continue to cut corruption, create more jobs and bring better services to communities in the area.

Andries Franken

Executive Mayor

Executive Mayor Andries Franken hails from the town of Swellendam where he was born and bred. Andries obtained his degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Stellenbosch and used to be a professional rugby player in Europe. Upon returning to South Africa he farmed for 20 years.
