Executive Mayor Ray Van Rooy showed his softer side when he handed out stationery packs to all grade 1 learners in the municipality on his 50th birthday.
Every grade 1 learner in the Bergrivier municipal area received a stationery pack and Mayor Van Rooy personally handed them out to learners at Velddrif high, Noordhoek and Steynville primary schools.
Each stationery pack included a pencil, ruler, sharpener, eraser, a fizzer and a “Welcome to grade 1” message from the municipality. Executive Mayor Van Rooy said that the municipality is committed to the education of learners within the municipal area.
This project was made possible through funds allocated in the municipal budget toward Community Upliftment.
