Mayor Poole hands out COVID kits to small businesses and traders

The Executive Mayor of Drakenstein Municipality, Alderman Conrad Poole, paid informal traders in Paarl a visit and handed out Covid-19 Safety Kits on behalf of the municipality. These Safety Kits include two liters of hand sanitizer, ten face masks and information pamphlets and posters with useful Covid-19 safety tips.

This project, thanks to a generous donation of 500 safety kits from the Western Cape Government, sees informal traders and micro enterprises operating within the Drakenstein Municipal area joining other businesses to fight the spread of Covid-19.

To date a total of 300 Covid-19 safety kits have been received by Drakenstein Municipality and are currently being distributed to informal traders and micro enterprises across the region.

Mayor Poole reiterated Drakenstein Municipality’s commitment to, where possible, assist residents manage the pandemic and continue to earn a living. Mayor Poole said that the small business sector was a critical one in the wider economy and the safety kits would help traders continue to operate within the regulations.
